| What is deduplication?
Simply put, data deduplication is the ability of a software application or an appliance compare blocks of data being written to disk data blocks that currently reside on that disk.
When duplicate data is found, it gets replaced by a pointer to the original data, removing or deduplicating redundant blocks.
